Asahikawa has a number of Information Centres in the downtown area. When you are in Asahikawa, please visit JR Asahikawa Station for information, maps, and guides.
If you require further assistance, the Asahikawa International Committee has foreign English speaking staff and can assist visitors if they have any problems. They also operate regular international exchange events which allow visitors to interact with Japanese locals. A volunteer guide service and homestays are available for those looking a “Japanese Cultural Experience.”
Asahikawa is a major hub of transportation, business and tourism and as such many hotel workers can speak English. Most businesses and shops have staff who can communicate with a little English.
