Asahikawa Restaurants

Asahikawa is the transport hub of Hokkaido where almost all seafood and agricultural produce pass before being shipped to other parts of Japan. Therefore, some of the freshest ingredients in Japan go through Asahikawa each day, making it a must stop for food lovers. Sushi, yakitori, tempura, you name it, almost any kind of restaurant can be found utilizing the country’s premiere ingredients. The city prides itself on the Ramen noodle-soup, and is the birthplace of a number of Ramen restaurants that can now be found across the country and internationally.

The downtown core, centred around the 3-jo-dori 6-chome area boasts as many as 1,300 different restaurants and bars. Many of Asahikawa’s bars are open until the morning as well as a handful of clubs that have DJ’s spinning the latest music and with occasional big-name domestic acts coming through town.
