Snowboarding in Furano Ski Ground

Furano has held consecutive FIS Snowboard World Cups in 2006 and 2007, proving its world class credentials.
There is no better place than Furano to learn to snowboard or improve your skills as the resort is blessed with a healthy 8 metre dump of light dry snow each year, providing plenty of powder to cushion one’s fall.

The vast terrain with 22 runs gives riders a great variety of options, perfect for anyone from the beginner to low-advanced level.  A 130 metre long FIS approved half pipe is located near the bottom of the mountain for those looking to get some air.

Although off-piste riding is not permitted due to the danger of avalanches, there are some great powder runs which are left ungroomed in the morning allowing great powder experiences at the start of the day.

Furano gets little wind and has many long dry sunny days where temperatures stay cool allowing you to enjoy superb conditions days after a fresh snowfall.
On clear days, you are able to see as far as Mt. Asahidake, the highest peak in Hokkaido, as well as the incredible smoking volcano located across the valley.

In mid-season when temperatures really drop, you may even experience diamond dust where the little moisture in the air freezes and sparkles like thousands of diamonds spinning around you.

For backcountry and chest-deep powder-snow, day tours to other local mountains are available at reasonable prices.
