Getting to Central Hokkaido

Mt. Kurodake

The best way to get to Sounkyo is to transfer from Asahikawa by bus. Asahikawa has its own airport located between Furano and Asahikawa. There are over 8 buses each day between the airport and Asahikawa and Furano. From Asahikawa there are regular buses departing from Asahikawa Station to Sounkyo.

The fare between Asahikawa and Sounkyo is 1,900 YEN per person one way. Bus Time Table PDF

There are also regular trains between many areas in Hokkaido and Kamikawa, the closest medium size town to Sounkyo. For more information on trains, and schedules please see Hokkaido Japan Rail's homepage.

Mt. Asahidake

The best way to get to Mt. Asahidake is to transfer from Asahikawa by bus. Asahikawa has its own airport located between Furano and Asahikawa. There are over 8 buses each day between the airport and Asahikawa and Furano. From Asahikawa there are regular bus "Ideyu-go" departing from Asahikawa Station to Mt. Asahidake.

The fare between Asahikawa and Mt. Asahidake is 1,320 YEN per person one way. Bus stop is No.4 in front of Asahikawa Station.
