Getting to FURANO from New Chitose Airport / Asahikawa Airport

From New Chitose Airport, take a JR Hokkaido train to Sapporo. Once in Sapporo, catch a train to Takikawa and at JR Takikawa Station, change to a Furano bound train. Direct shuttle buses from New Chitose Airport to Furano Ski Area are in service from early December through early April. Shuttle bus bookings are required 1 week in advance.

Take the expressway from Chitose to Takikawa. Takikawa is 172km from Chitose and tolls will cost \3500. The journey will take approximately 2 hours 40 minutes. Car hire is available at New Chitose Airport. 660cc cars can be rented for approximately \7000 for 6 hours during winter plus the cost of gas. Toyota Rent-a-car has a limited number of cars with English GPS systems.
